VII International Forum on Information Technologies opens in Nizhny Novgorod
The VII International Forum on Information Technologies ITFORUM 2020/Evolution opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region today, April 15, 2014.
"In the field of IT-technology, the Nizhny Novgorod region can be proud of one of the largest computers that is being launched now at the Nizhny Novgorod State University named after Lobachevsky. The region can also be proud of its IT personnel, graduates of Nizhny Novgorod universities, whom representatives of IT-industry want like hots cakes, - Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Alexei Volin, noted in his speech at the opening ceremony. - IT is not only a key technology for economy, but also a key to competitiveness for companies, regions and entire states. Thanks to IT-technologies, it is possible to create user-friendly businesses, public services, education, health and socially important services."
The information technology forum is being held in the Nizhny Novgorod region for the seventh time.
"I am very pleased to see new faces, as well as those, for whom this platform has become home, those who come here not only for new experiences, but also for new technologies, experience and the desire to share the knowledge they saved during the year. I wish good communication, new discoveries, new friends to all visitors," Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergei Potapov said.
The international forum on information technology ITFORUM 2020/Evolution presents developments and specific IT-solutions, including services of the "Electronic government". The head of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev believes that "the provision of public services in electronic form saves time. Everything becomes transparent and allows one to get rid of corruption."
The letter of intent between the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and Cisco was signed today, April 15th as well. The document is to strengthen and expand strategic partnership in the development and implementation of information and communication technologies between the region and the company that is ranked as a world leader in the field.
"The Nizhny Novgorod region is an important economic, transport and information center of the Russian Federation. The regional administration has a clear understanding of the connection between the development of information technology and state-building tasks in the XXI century. Signing the cooperation agreement with the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region is another practical step to implement Cisco's strategy in Russia," Sergey Chernovolenko, managing director of Cisco Russia said.
