Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice.
This meeting was held as part of the regular Russian-US dialogue, presidential press secretary Alexei Gromov said.
The sides discussed key bilateral and international issues, in particular, the situations in Iraq and the Middle East, Mr. Gromov noted.
Condoleezza Rice handed George Bush's letter to Vladimir Putin, Kremlin sources reported.
The American guest also met with Russian President's chief of staff Dmitry Medvedev.
"We should use shock therapy to sober up the Americans. In this case, the Americans will speak about the need to resume dialogue. There is no other option"
The United States is concerned about the current crisis in the relations with Russia and suggests returning to reasonable policies to avoid a nuclear war
