Yesterday, in outskirts of Kerla-Shauni settlement, bandit formations leaded by Ali Dimaev, communication minister of Maskhadov’s government, committed an attack on a mobile police group. As a result of the fight, the band was annihilated, including the “minister” himself. One of the militants was taken prisoner. According to Federal Security Service’s department, the captivated militant belongs to the so-called irreconciable: he personally knows Maskhadov and he has been taking part in fights against federal troops at least since the year 1999. The head of the bandit formation, Ali Kimaev, also belongs to the irreconciable. In particular, he took part in the armed attack of Dagestan. As a result of the operation of checking personal documents, carried out just after annihilation of the band, a hiding place of the militants was found not far from the settlement. This earth-house was well camouflaged; there were arms; ammunition; and different original documents proving the bandits’ identity, including passports, driving licenses, and a car registration certificates.
