UN High Commissioner for Refugees Ruud Lubbers highly appraised the work of UN staffers in Ingushetia. "Humanitarian workers are doing very useful work here," he stated to journalists in Nazran Wednesday. The UN High Commissioner also said that the aim of his visit to the North Caucasus is "to see how people live" in the camps for forced migrants and assess "in what direction to improve the humanitarian work." Ruud Lubbers noted that he deems the issue of future political settlement of the Chechen problem very important.
