China Willing to Lease Pastures in Urals

China is prepared to invest money in the agricultural development of the Sverdlovsk Region and even lease some land in order to breed cattle.

As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed today by the press office of the regional ministry of agriculture, the regional authorities held discussions with a delegation from the Chinese government yesterday, where they discussed the possible lease of land in the Urals for the breeding of cattle. Minister for Agriculture and Foodstuffs Sergei Chemesov told the Chinese guests about the situation in the agricultural industry in the Sverdlovsk Region. He said that the Central Urals region has plenty of chicken, dairy products, vegetables and eggs but that there is still great potential in agricultural production. For example, due to a lack of workers and investment 120 hectares of arable land is going to waste and 200 cattle farming buildings are out of use.

The minister believes that cooperation with China could be profitable for both parties and the regional ministry has provided the Chinese delegation with all the necessary data.
