In the late hours of Thursday, the Tu-154 airliner bound from Anapa /the Black Sea coast/ to Novokuznetsk /Southern Siberia/ performed an emergency landing in Tolmachyovo airport outside Novosibirsk.
According to the duty officer of the Siberian Regional Centre of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the landing was a success, no one sustained injuries.
There were 135 passengers and 10 crewmen on board the airliner belonging to the Sibir Airlines.
Prior to the emergency landing, airliner's captain Katrushev reported to the ground control that one of the four aircraft's engines had shut down and requested a permission to land. The airport's rescue service was ready to render all possible assistance to the aircraft, but its help was not needed.
The choice of the city of Helsinki is not incidental as the capital of Finland had hosted US-Soviet negotiations on the limitation of nuclear stockpiles in 1969
