A new AIDS treatment drug is being developed in Russia, said Wimm-Bill-Dann company director David Yakobashvili at an international conference entitled Social Responsibilities of Companies.

He said that the company financed the research as part of the Anti-AIDS program. The new drug would allow patients who have only two months left to live a chance to significantly extend their lives by stopping the distribution of infected cells,' he said. He added that the drug is now being developed. 'It is still necessary to conduct a number of experiments,' he said.

Yakobashvili also said that the medication would not effect other organs of the patient, and that the patient would have to continue to take the drug for the rest of their life. 'The treatment is expensive, but it gives good results,' he said.
