More forest fires in Russia's Far East

More forest fires were reported from Russia's Far East. As of Tuesday morning, the Far Eastern Department of Natural Resources registered 83 fires. Yesterday, it had reported only 77 fires.

In all, since the beginning of the current fire-hazardous season, forest fires have devastated an aggregate area of 378,182 hectares. 16 fires raging on the Khabarovsk territory alone cover an aggregate space of 553.4 hectares.

According to Marina Chesalina of the department's press service, fires mostly occur far from populated areas, in mountainous hard-to-access areas, and are prompted by rainless lightnings.
