Moscow concerned over US military solutions

Far from everything in the US foreign policy suits Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov told a conference marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the USA on Tuesday.

Moscow is concerned over the US' commitment to military solutions of some problems, as well as its unilateral actions to the detriment of the international community, he stressed.

In bilateral relations, there are stereotypes of the cold war, he added. In his opinion, this is due to the Jackson-Vanik amendment, the sanctions imposed under "a far-fetched pretext" on Russian companies (the amendment was introduced by the USA against the USSR in 1974 and made bilateral economic relations dependent on the freedom of emigration from the Soviet Union).

There are differences in our relations, but they should not prevail, stressed Ivanov.

In response to the unlawful December 1 arrest and detention of Chinese tech giant Huawei's chief financial officer Sabrina Meng Wanzhou by Canadian authorities in Vancouver at the behest of the Trump regime, facing possible unacceptable extradition to the US, Beijing warned its high-tech personnel last month against traveling to America unless it's essential.
