A delegation of Samsung Corporation has started its visit to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a major city of the easternmost island region of Russia, on Tuesday, December 18. The corporation intends to discuss its participation in investments in the international oil-and-gas projects Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2. Members of the South-Korean delegation will hold talks with representatives of foreign companies, parties to international projects, and local authorities. The delegation head told journalists that Samsung Corporation is interested, most of all, in participation in creating a coastal infrastructure and reconstructing the U.S. floating platform Orlan. The platform is currently in the port of Sovetskaya Harbour on the coast of the Tartar Strait separating the Sakhalin island from the continental part of the Far East. Russian companies also intend to take part in the tender for the platform reconstruction.
