Russian-Kuwaiti relations do not depend on the situation around Iraq, said the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Alexander Yakovenko, when answering journalists' question, concerning the outlook for the development of Russian-Kuwaiti relations after the war in the region.
"Russian-Kuwaiti cooperation is gradually strengthening," Yakovenko pointed out. It is especially visible in the political sphere, he disclosed. "Our countries are conducting an intensive dialog that allows timely exchange of opinion, rapprochement of our positions on the most topical international and regional problems," Yakovenko emphasized.
Moscow believes that "today's priority is to develop our relations in the trade and economic, investment and other spheres that have good perspectives," the spokesman announced.
"The parties have already formed the necessary legislation basis, the inter-governmental committee has started its work, the countries are having necessary contact to begin realization of concrete projects," he pointed out.
"On the whole, Russia is optimistic about the outlook for Russian-Kuwaiti relations and takes necessary efforts to bring them to a new higher level," Yakovenko concluded.
