Central Bank bolsters dollar

The weighted average dollar exchange rate with tomorrow settlements came to RUR30.32 at the end of the first hour of the UTS special session today, up from RUR30.28 at the opening. Commercial bank dealers attribute the fact that US currency is at the level of the official dollar rate for today to the Central Bank's intervention. Analysts point to the fact that dollars have been bought in large volumes ranging from $1m to $2m today which almost none of commercial banks is capable of. According to experts, dollars have been purchased by the Central Bank that is not interested in the ruble's strengthening against the dollar.
