The US launches ground operation in Afghanistan

Today, a Pentagon official confirmed to Western information agencies and US TV companies the ground operation in Afghanistan had been launched. US task force, including Delta Force landed in south Afghanistan being supported by aircraft and helicopters. The number of US militaries who entered Afghan territory is not known yet. Though the Pentagon official says the question is about the very beginning of the ground operation, about preliminary deployment of troops. It is being reported, the troops have been landed in Afghanistan to split Pashtoons and to deprive the Taliban of the population’s support. At the same time, today a new bomb strike was delivered on Kabul. The explosion sounded near to Intercontinental Hotel, in south-western part of Afghan capital. There is no information about victims and destruction. At daybreak, the aircraft also attacked Kandagar.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
