Russian President meets the King of Jordan

Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered thanks to King Abdallah II of Jordan for supporting Russia in the effort to establish contacts with the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

The president met the king in the Kremlin. Issues related to bilateral economic and military-technological co-operation, the Middle East settlement effort and the situation in Iraq were prominent on the Kremlin meeting agenda.

King Abdallah praised President Putin's personal contribution to the development of relations between Jordan and Russia and the latter's role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

The Jordani leader said Russia was working to bring stability and security to the region and resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Russia is a major factor of regional stability, said His Majesty King Abdallah.
