On July 4, North Ossetia will begin celebrating the 230th anniversary of its joining Russia and the 220th anniversary of the establishment of its capital - Vladikavkaz (Ordzhonikidze in Soviet times). This decision was made on Tuesday by the organizing committee on preparing the jubilee.
President of North Ossetia Alexander Dzasokhov stressed that the "230th anniversary of the North Ossetian voluntary joining Russia and the 220th anniversary of the foundation of Vladikavkaz should help the younger generation to more deeply study the history of the Ossetian people and once again to confirm the reliability and strength of the Russian-Ossetian relations, the allegiance to which will preserve on the genetic level." The program of celebrations, the main part of which will take place in Vladikavkaz, includes theatrical performances, exhibitions organized by the national-cultural centers, the republican sports festival, in which 5,000 young sportsmen will take part, and the all-Russian scientific-practical conference "Ossetia and Caucasus within the Russian Historic and Cultural Space".
In addition, one more school is to open in Vladikavkaz on July 4, and 220 families will move to apartments in two new houses.
