Agrofest NN-2014 opens in Nizhny Novgorod region

The annual regional agricultural exhibition to spread and share best practices in agribusiness Agrofest NN-2014 opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The head of the region, Valery Shantsev, arrived at the event driving a tractor of domestic assembly, with the flag of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Governor Shantsev noted that the region was located in the zone of risky agriculture. There are risks in crop and livestock production, he added.

"New technologies and new equipment close these risks. One needs to summarize the existing experience and apply it as soon as possible at all farms, because we have examples, when people achieve different results in one and the same climate zone," said the head of the region. "I think that within three years, we will bring all agricultural enterprises to European standards to ensure food security for the region," he said.

Within the scope of Agrofest NN-2014, an exhibition of farm animals was organized. A contest was held for the title of the champion of the annual regional exhibition Nizhny Novgorod Elite 2014. The cow named Travinka, from "Dubensky" farm, won the contest, beating out 60 other animals. More than 40 major federal and regional suppliers of agricultural machinery were represented at the exhibition of modern achievements of agricultural technology and equipment.
