American special forces finished the first ground operation in Afghanistan

A group of American commandos finished the first land operation on Afghanistan’s territory on Saturday. A Pentagon spokesman has reported this to to the American media on the condition of anonymity. According to that information, about 100 Army Rangers took part in the operation. The area of the operation has not been exposed, but the operation was allegedly carried out in the south of the country. There is information, however, that the special forces were operating around Kandagar.

In the words from a Pentagon spokesman, helicopters were working together with a special forces group. It was added that all the helicopters left Afghani air space after the operation was accomplished.

It also became known that an American rescue helicopter crashed in Pakistan – the plane was kept in readiness for rendering help to the military operation. The details of the crash are not yet known. According to the information received, two people were killed. The chopper did not enter Afghanistan’s territory, the Pentagon officials repeatedly claimed. President George W. Bush released a statement today in connection with the death of the American military men as a result of the helicopter crash. “They did not die in vain, but for the matter of justice,” – said the President.
