Georgian and Russian Football Teams To Play European Football Championship Match Without Spectators

The chief coach of the Russian national football team, Valery Gazzayev, expressed his negative attitude to holding the Georgia-Russia match on the Lokomotiv stadium in Tbilisi without spectators. He spoke about it at a news conference in Moscow.

According to Gazzayev, he comes across such a situation for the first time in his sport practice. "Football is a game for spectators, above all, and if they are absent, then for whom we shall play," said the coach of the Russian team.

By the decision of the UEFA control-disciplinary committee, the Georgia-Russia game will take place on April 30, in Tbilisi with no spectators present. In this way the UEFA reacted to the undisciplined behaviour of the Georgian fans at the qualification game between Georgia and Ireland on March 29. That day the Georgian fans threw various objects to the field, and a penknife hit one member of the Irish team. Ireland team won that game with a score 2:1.
