Russian-Chinese joint ventures to appear in Saratov region

The Saratov Region (Volga Region) is ready to set up Russian-Chinese joint ventures on its territory, particularly in the field of farming, said Saratov governor Dmitry Ayatskov.

On Friday the governor received a delegation of Chinese scientists who came to the Saratov region to take part in a bilateral symposium discussing economic reforms in Russia and in China. The delegation is headed by vice-president for social sciences of the PRC Professor Cheng Jiagui.

Dmitry Ayatskov said that the Saratov region has a mighty scientific potential. "We are proud to have dozens of successfully working research institutes and that 87,000 students from 35 countries are studying in our higher educational establishments," stressed the governor. He also said that the Saratov region is ready to examine the possibility of exchanging students with China.
