Russian President to begin his state visit to Thailand

On Tuesday, October 21, President of Russia Vladimir Putin will begin his state visit to Thailand.

After the end of his participation in the APEC summit in Bangkok on Tuesday, Vladimir Putin will talk to Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Chinnawat. The meeting will be held in a narrow format, and then the talks will continue with the participation of the delegations. It is planned to sign joint documents on their results.

According to Thailand's Foreign Ministry, "a number of bilateral agreements on boosting co-operation in the military, humanitarian and economic spheres, among them an agreement on settling Russia's state debt to Thailand, an agreement on logistical support, and a protocol on co-operation in the sphere of culture, will be signed".

Vladimir Putin and Thaksin Chinnawat will then make statements for the press.

A ceremony of presenting the Thai honorary suite to Vladimir and Lyudmila Putin will take place on Wednesday, October 22. On that same day, the Russian president will meet President of the Supreme Court of Thailand Atthaniti Distha-Amnarj.

After that, the Russian head of state and his spouse will visit the National Museum of Bangkok and the Support fund which was established by the queen of Thailand to help the poorest of the country's rural population.

In the evening Vladimir and Lyudmila Putin will meet with King of Thailand Phumiphon Adunyadet and queen Sirikit. The meeting will be held at the Chakri Maha Prasar throne palace.

After his visit to Thailand, the Russian leader will fly to Kyrgyzstan.
