YUKOS has no problems with the government. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced at a press conference yesterday by YUKOS CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky. 'I don't think we have any problems with the government. Our work with parliament and government has shown that a consensus can always be found even in difficult circumstances,' he stressed. The YUKOS CEO said that the government and the company share the same strategic vision for developing the energy sector. 'Certain employees in different law-enforcement departments seem to have a grievance against the company. They do not like the fact that YUKOS is a transparent company and has even been recognised as such internationally,' he said.
Commenting on the different checks that have been carried out on the company by various government departments, he said it is the usual practice and 'strangely enough, there have been even fewer checks this year.' In his opinion, the Russian Environment Ministry' decision to investigate YUKOS on its use of natural resources had 'no political agenda.' Mr Khodorkovsky believes that YUKOS is just as environment-friendly as its rivals. 'We have to remember that 30% of all checks will now be carried out on us as we account for 30% of all oil extraction in the country,' he said.
