Many entities of the Russian Federation have sent 7,398 tons of gratuitous humanitarian aid to the flood-affected regions of the south of Russia, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
In particular, 65 railway cars with building materials and foodstuffs given by the government of Moscow to the affected population have been sent to the Stavropol Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria and North Ossetia.
The foreign assistance (from Belarus and the International Red Cross) amounts to 126.6 tons. As many as 129.8 million roubles have been allocated along the State Reserves Fund, the MChS officials specified.
As a result of the disastrous flood in the south of Russia at the end of June, nearly 333,000 people suffered and 113 people perished. As many as 13,528 dwelling houses were completely destroyed and more than 40,000 were damaged. The damage done by the natural calamity is estimated at 15,575 billion roubles (1 US dollar = more than 30 roubles).
