Poll: more than half of Russians say they have poor knowledge of country's history

Approximately 48% of Russian citizens qualify their knowledge of Russian history as 'mediocre,' according to a recent Romir monitoring survey of 1500 respondents who were at least 18 years of age. Approximately 34% of the respondents said their knowledge of the country's history was 'good.' 6% said their knowledge was 'excellent' and 10% said it was 'poor.' 1% called their knowledge 'very poor' and another 1% had difficulty answering the question. According to the survey, specialists with higher educations, military personnel and students have the best knowledge of Russian history. Housewives have the poorest knowledge.

More than 5.8 million people voted for Nicholas Maduro at the presidential election in Venezuela. This is more than a quarter of registered voters. Why did those people vote for the man, who, as Western media write, took Venezuela to the brink of collapse?
