The development of close cooperation between Georgia and Russia is the top priority, Georgian Ambassador in Moscow Konstantin Kemulariya disclosed to RIA Novosti. On Tuesday he handed credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Embassy conducts work on the development of cooperation between the definite departments, culture and business activists of Georgia and Russia, Mr. Kemulariya stressed.
"The Embassy just held a meeting of Georgian and Russian business circles, which resulted in the formation of the Russo-Georgian Business Cooperation Council," the Ambassador said. Representatives of energy sectors, agriculture, engineering industry construction industry and other industries participated in the meeting. The first business seminar, organized by the Council, is intended to be held this summer in Georgia.
"We hope that first serious investments into Georgian economy will be made this year. The healthy economy will help to stabilize political relations," he noted.
Mr. Kemulariya highly appraised the peaceful settlement of the recent conflict in Georgia, concerning the Adzharian situation, and expressed his confidence that it would serve as a good example for the development of the Russo-Georgian relations.
