Participants of the fourth meeting of the Joint Russian-Japanese Commission on Environmental Protection will adopt a new cooperation plan through 2004, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources reported. The participants will also consider the implementation of the 2002 Russian-Japanese plan of cooperation in environmental protection. Additionally, the meeting will cover the guidelines of Russian and Japanese government policies in environmental protection and the joint participation of both countries in the corresponding international programs.
The Joint Russian-Japanese Commission on Environmental Protection was founded after the countries had signed a related agreement in April 1991, and it is operating within the UN Environment Program (UNEP).
