Putin: Iraq crisis solution returning to UN fold

Vladimir Putin believes the solution of the Iraqi crisis is returning to the framework of the United Nations.

When opening a Kremlin meeting with members of the international non-governmental organisation, the Interaction Council, the Russian president said that he was happy to announce that the solution to the Iraqi crisis was returning to the field of the UN. The Interaction Council unites statesmen who have held the highest posts in their countries.

Vladimir Putin agrees with those who believe that the UN can and must be modernised. However, he warned that this should not be to the detriment of the organisation's work at the current stage.
