Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Strategic Missile Forces will switch to fifth-generation missile systems by 2021 (Yars and Topol-M).
Defense Ministry spokesman for Strategic Missile Forces, Colonel Igor Yegorov, said that the department plans to increase the share of new missile systems in the grouping of Strategic Missile Forces. By 2016, he said, new missile systems will make up about 60 percent of the strike group, and 98 percent - by 2021.
According to the official, the modernization will touch upon existing control points of the troops. The facilities will be equipped with modern systems of command, control and communications.
