If the USA gets control over the oil resources of Iraq construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will lose economic significance, retaining geopolitical significance as a project bypassing Russia.
This view was voiced in an interview by director of the Institute of the CIS Studies Konstantin Zatulin.
As he said, the value of other oil sources for the USA and the West will increase if Iraq implements its threat to blow up the oil fields and oil wells, which is doubtful.
As the Russian political scientist believes, in a diametrically opposite case the significance of oil allies will somewhat decrease and, correspondingly, the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline may be postponed.
Zatulin also forecasts that for the first time ever the world oil market will stop being a market and will only be regulated in the level of prices.
The director of the Institute of the CIS Studies presumes that this will deal a blow at Russia, Azerbaijan and all other oil-producing countries.
