The Volga Automotive Works (AvtoVAZ, Togliatti) is showing 22 models at the 6th Russian International Auto Show, which opened in Moscow today. The AvtoVAZdisplay includes both production and experimental models.
As reported to Rosbalt in the AvtoVAZ press center, new models on display include the experimental Project 2170, a sport version of the LADA Revolution, the ecologically advanced LADA Antel-2 and the Oka-2, a low-fuel-burning concept car. Also on display are the rough-terrain Marsh-2 and the VAZ-2120 minivan, designed for hauling loads through impassable terrain under emergency conditions.
The show's first day saw the formal presentation in the company's exhibition space in Forum pavilion of its experimental Project 2170 and the LADA Revolution. Project 2170 represents a new, more user-friendly generation of the firm's so-called '10s' series. The vehicle's new body and interior design meet the highest contemporary safety standards. Preparation for its manufacture have been underway for a year. The sport-class Revolution represents a new stage in Russian automobile manufacture and is meant to make Russia competitive at the international level of motorcar racing. The exhibition also includes vehicles of the VAZ-21103 family, including the upgraded VAZ-21103 T in a luxury version, and two automobiles of the Samara-2 line, all three versions (hatchback, sedan and universal) of the Kalina group, two versions of the VAZ-2112 (sport Super 1600 and three-door VAZ-2112 Coupe). Visitors to the exhibition also will see the VAZ-21108 Premier, the minivan VAZ-2120, a modified five-door offroad VAZ-2131 emergency vehicle, the VAZ-2329 pickup, an in-plant electric car, the BrontoCar, and the VAZ-11113 Oka.
The 6th Russian International Auto Show, which AvtoVAZ always attends, will continue through August 31 at the Expocenter on Krasno-Presna St. in Moscow. More than 800 firms from around the world are participating.
Rescuers found the pilot of one of the two Su-34 fighters that had collided in midair in the Far East on January 18
