International Research Project on Cross-border Cooperation to Be Carried out in Pskov Region

The Pskov Region is to be the focus of a new project on 'The influence of cross-border cooperation on regional economic development.' The project, which, in addition to the Pskov Region, involves the Latvian and Estonian Foreign Policy Institutes and the Swedish government, was unveiled last weekend in Kaliningrad at the conference 'Europe and Russia: Borders That Unite.'

The project will include economic, political and sociological studies. The results will be presented at an international conference to be held at the end of 2003 or beginning of 2004, and will also be made available to the four countries' governments and to federal and local authorities.
