Despite bans, meat is exported to Russia via CIS countries

Russian President Vladimir Putin has drawn the attention of the Agricultural Minister to the fact that despite the quotas and the ban by the government on imports to Russia of poultry and meat, the imports of these products are going on through the CIA countries.

Addressing Agricultural Minister Alexei Gordeyev at the conference with the members of the government, the Russian President noted that such concern is being expressed by the leaders of some regions.

Alexei Gordeyev confirmed that the government had known of such a concern that "allegedly through Ukraine and other CIS countries meat is re-exported to Russia." At the same time he pointed out that "it is impossible to do this technically, because the products are accompanied by veterinary certificates issued by producers, on the bass of which control is being carried out." "If the deliveries of such products are done through the CIS countries, this is a crime," said Gordeyev.

Talking with reporters after the conference, Alexei Gordeyev said that the Agricultural Ministry would consider this question jointly with the Customs Committee, then it will make conclusions and the results of the checking will be reported to the President."
