Early gubernatorial elections in the Krasnoyarsk region, one of the biggest regions in Siberia, have begun.
Over the past 24 hours more than 400 citizens of the region have cast their votes, chairman of the regional election committee Georgy Kostrykin told journalists on Monday. The citizens can turn to one of the 74 territorial election polling stations.
According to the election committee chairman, only those who leave their places of residence before the elections, due on September 8, for vacations, medical treatment, etc. have the early voting privilege.
"A day at a dacha is not an acceptable excuse," the election committee head said.
2,149 polling stations will be open in the region on September 8. 15 candidates are running for Governor.
