Works inside Kursk submarine to be continued. Eight corps of submarine sailors retrieved

The team of forensic medical experts and investigators of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office working inside Kursk submarine have already retrieved eight bodies of killed sailors. At the moment, criminalists are intending to retrieve two more bodies found in the submarine’s 9th compartment. In general, the experts suppose the corps could be in compartments from 9th (shelter) to 5th (dwelling compartment). According to some information, the investigators have already been inside the submarine, including 7th compartment. There is no information about inside rooms’ condition and about what has been found there. For the time being, the works are being carried out only in Kursk’s 9th compartment to where the submarine’s 23 sailors went over just after the crash, on August 12, 2000. The bodies of the killed sailors will be transported to Severomorsk, where a temporary forensic laboratory works. The bodies will be identified with closed regime, while only military specialists will be permitted to the work. Forensic doctors will arrive from Moscow and St Petersburg Military Medical Academy. According to Public Prosecutor General Ustinov, the reason of the catastrophe could be cleared up by using recorders the investigators hope to find in 4th compartment. Work at lifting bodies is planned to be finished in the nearest future, afterwards the commission will work with documents and devices. Today, works in 6th compartment (reactor) must be started. The specialists should secure the reactor. Meanwhile, different speculation about Kursk submarine’s catastrophe go on. The day before, Spiegel magazine reported the Kremlin still considered the version about “Petr Veliki” cruiser’s missile which caused the submarine’s catastrophe. This could not regarded as a sensation. The German journalists seem to have carefully studied Russian reports from the catastrophe times. Today, information office of the Russian President reported the article had caused perplexity in the Kremlin. According to the Kremlin’s report, the state commission has already many times reported about torpedo’s explosion in the submarine. “At the moment, works at founding out the catastrophe’s reasons is being carried out. There is not any parallel investigation the Spiegel article reports,” – the information office stressed. “As well as there are no documents of the second commission as if having the Russian President’s resolution”, - the report stressed. According to the report, the information office regrets such a publication has appeared in the very authoritative edition.
