Bill White: Israeli Lobby Scrambling For New Approach To Crisis (Part 2)

The following is the second installment of a two-part article by Bill White.

When All Else Fails … Torture

With their currency falling in the Defense Department, the Zionists have regrouped and opened a new front against the Justice Department, taking a stab at getting Attorney General John Ashcroft to begin implementing their domestic agenda – an agenda which includes the torture of “terrorists” and political dissidents, the implementation of a national ID card, and the extradition of US political dissidents to Israel. Jonah Goldberg, the editor of the National Review Online who’s wife is a senior policy aide working directly for and with Ashcroft, led the attack with a feeler article on National Review Online:

“Torture needs to be against the written law, but — like police brutality — it is recognized by the hidden law as a sometimes necessary tool for protecting society. … I think it would be unpleasant, but hardly morally impermissible, to take a cheese grater to [a terrorist’s] face.”

The report was followed by articles in the press stating that the FBI was considering asking permission to torture Saudi immigrants who had been detained, but who had refused, under the American Fifth Amendment, to answer questions put to them by their interrogators. One FBI agent told the London Independent:

“We are known for humanitarian treatment, so basically we are stuck. Usually there is some incentive, some angle to play ... But it could get to that spot where we could go to pressure, where we don't have a choice, and we are probably getting there."

But of course all forms of torture are barred by law in the United States under the Eighth Amendment, which states that “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, not cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.” However, acting under the influence of groups like the ADL, the Constitution had proven to not be particularly important to the like of Ashcroft. Jewish magnate Peter R Kann’s Wall Street Journal ran an article by Jay Winik Wednesday laying out the case for the effectiveness of torture:

“Murad [a Phillipino terrorist] was violently tortured. For weeks … agents struck him with a chair and pounded him with a heavy piece of wood, breaking nearly every rib. … [T]hey forced water into his mouth. They crushed lighted cigarettes into his private parts. … [They] told Murad they were taking him to Israel. Terrified of being turned over to the Israelis, he finally told all.”

As Winik points out, the ultimate goal of the torture lobby is not to get US FBI agents involved in the torture process. It is something much more sinister – to get the Untied States to start deporting its detainees, immigrants at first, and then citizens who are political dissidents – to Israel, to be tortured by the Mossad. Columnist Michael Ledeen, a contributing editor for National Review Online, made the case this way:

“According to some recent interviews, the bureau is thinking about extraditing these guys to some friendly Arab countries — like Egypt and Morocco — where interrogation is conducted more vigorously than here. There is certainly something to be said for it, but before we turn them over to the tender mercies of their Arab brothers we ought to use the considerable resources of the country that has the most experience, and the greatest success, in dealing with Islamic terrorism. That would be Israel.”

Ledeen went on, stating that the US could “avoid their Constitutional protections” by extraditing the detainees, most of whom are not even accused of being criminals, but are being detained as witnesses, to the clutches of the Mossad. This of course would violate US law, which does not allow extradition or deportation to a country that engages in torture, the Constitution, which does not allow torture, and every other value Americans are supposed to be fighting a war for.

As long-term observers of Michael Ledeen know, he has a history of sinister connections -- both American and Israeli. In 1985, Ledeen, then a “private consultant” to the National Security Council, acted as a go between for the Israeli and American intelligence communities, facilitating Israel’s role in the Iran-Contra arms scandal. Later on, it was Ledeen who got Israeli spy Johnathan Pollard his job with the Department of the Navy. And in Ledeen’s 1998 book “Universal Fascism”, he admired the dictatorial methods of Benito Mussolini’s predecessors. To Ledeen, the Constitution, America, and the law is not important. Ledeen is a “new” or “neo-“ conservative – a conservative in the pay of Israel – and his mission to keep America as a milk cow for the Jewish state.

Your Papers Please …

Though mixed on the issue, some in the “official” Jewish lobby are also taking advantage of Ashcroft’s authoritarian nature by putting out feeler stories conditionally supporting proposals made by the head of Oracle to “give” to the government a national ID card system. New York Daily News’ Richard Cohen put it this way:

“What this country needs is something a bit more high-tech — a national identification card with a photo but also a fingerprint and some other piece of unique information, such as an iris or retinal scan. … there's something spooky about a national ID card. But there is something spooky about what happens now.”

While Cohen’s views certainly fall in the range of “acceptable” by way of Zuckerman, the push for a national ID has not gotten unanimous consent across the “official” community. David Kopel, of the pro-war “libertarian” CATO Institute, recently attacked Larry Ellison, inventor of the ID card system, in one of several negative articles in National Review: “We do know one beneficiary of a national ID card program. Oracle's Larry Ellison has offered to create the software to implement the program. Then, Oracle can rake in money selling the national ID card database and verification programs to governments and business in all over America. … Mr. Ellison, it should be remembered, hired private ‘detectives’ to bribe janitors, steal trash, and spy on think tanks which spoke out in favor of Microsoft in the famous antitrust case. … When Oracle got caught, Ellison insisted that the dumpster diving and other dirty tricks were his ‘civic duty.’”

Despite objections, Ellison’s proposal has found support on the Hill from the bevy of usual suspects. Diane Feinstein, a half Jewish Senator who’s proposals since the September 11 bombing have included federalizing the National Guard as a pretext for general gun confiscation, is not moving on an ID card for US citizens, but has launched a program to issue the same type of ID card to all immigrants entering the country as a “start” towards eventually nationalizing the system and expanding it to US citizens:

“For people coming into the country … This is where we should start,” Feinstein told the Tribune Publishing Company’s LA Times newspaper.

A secondary proposal, which includes the synchronization and coordination of driver’s license data across all 50 states, as a prelude to a federal registry and a national ID card, has also been made: "If you have a nationwide unified framework, you will be able to, for the first time, uniquely identify that the person is who they say they are," Jason King,a spokesman for the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, told the Times in the same interview. "We're trying to come up with a strong uniform voice to go to Congress."

Though the thought of a national ID card is still viewed as a “third rail” in Congress – back in the Reagan administration it was joked that it would be easier and more efficient to simply order all Americans to have an ID number tattooed under their arms -- all this might change if a media boss, say, AOL-Time-Warner’s Gerald Levin, were to develop the technology for a national ID system and see a way his company could profit from it. At that point, one might soon be hearing the praises of such a system trumpeted by the American media – and where the American media goes, its politicians are soon to follow.

Conclusions

Though certainly not defeated, for the first time in a generation the Jewish lobby is being reminded that, despite having strong influence over decision makers, it has never been elected and is not in power in the government.

Given the ideas that it has decided to try to foist on the American people since September 11 – a racist religious war against Islam, a suspension of the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution, and a suspension of the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution – and the ideas it has been lobbying for since at least the beginning of the decade – the suspension of the First Amendment, the suspension of the Second Amendment, and the suspension of the Fourth Amendment -- this decline cannot be considered a bad thing. In fact, all that is standing between the American people and the total abolition of all Constitutional rights is the whim of George Bush – a man who’s loyalty to other ruling class factions within the American elite offers the American people little more comfort.

(Note that though I rely heavily on New York Daily News and National Review columnists for this article, in my previous articles I have used extensive material from other publications, like FrontPageMag.com, the Weekly Standard, The New Republic, and the like. New York Daily News was chosen for this article because it is owned by Mortimer Zuckerman, a media baron that heads the major Jewish foreign policy lobby, and the National Review was chosen because its editor, Jonah Goldberg, enjoys close ties by marriage to John Ashcroft’s inner circle, and its “contributing editor” Michael Ledeen is a known go-between for Israeli and American intelligence officials.)
