American nuclear stations are threatened

The subject about the security of Russian nuclear objects were of special interest for Washington long ago. After the break-up of the Soviet Union, both Europe and America were saying that Russia could not guarantee the necessary security for its nuclear stations. There was the information that the Russian mafia was allegedly selling some nuclear materials to the potential terrorists, not to mention the scandal of Russia’s joint nuclear power projects with India and Iran. However, there has not been anything to prove that Russian nuclear objects cannot be provided with the adequate security.

This does not stop the adequate American bodies, the intelligence first and foremost, from preparing reports reproaching Russia for the insufficient attention that was paid to the security of its nuclear objects, stressing that Russia could never handle the problem without America's help.

Well, it is quite possible that the system of control is not perfect in Russia, but speaking about terrorists, they have about the same chances of seizing a nuclear object as in any other country, including the USA. The American Nuclear Regulatory commission addressed to the managers of all 104 nuclear stations of the country with the requirement to provide additional security measures: to increase the patrolling personnel, the personnel of the security services, to build more enclosures, and so on.

On the one hand, it is completely clear that the increased security measures are the consequences of the attack on America in September, but, on the other hand, if the federal commission made such a requirement, then one may assume that the security systems of the American nuclear stations were also far from being perfect.

Increasing the security efficiency of the nuclear objects is topical for all countries that have them, not only for Russia or the USA. The governments of such countries ought to do something in this respect rather than try to teach each other.
