Russia Foreign Minister to visit Hungary on July 2-3

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov will make a visit to Budapest mostly to verify the implementation of agreements reached at the summit level between Russia and Hungary. The visit is scheduled for July 2 to 3, a diplomatic source said.

"The picture shaping up in Russo-Hungarian relations on eve of the Russian foreign minister's visit to that country is on the whole positive," said the source. Thus, the debt of the former USSR to Hungary has been paid off, the question of arranging a cemetery in the Voronezh region (heartland Russia) for Hungarians who died during WWII has been settled. Also, an interdepartmental dialogue has been arranged and interparliamentary contacts are developing.

In the Hungarian capital, the Russian foreign minister will sign a bilateral agreement on co-operation in archive-keeping.

The sides will also discuss trade and economic relations. Russian companies are interested in more active involvement in the Hungarian economy.

The question of displaced values is planned to be discussed during the visit. One is the well-known Saros-Patak Library, now kept in Nizhni Novgorod in the Volga region.

During the visit Igor Ivanov will have meetings with the Hungarian president, the premier and the foreign minister.
