The Office of the Prosecutor General unveiled about 800 unnoticed crimes as a result of a scheduled inspection of the prosecuting agencies of the Moscow region. A spokesman for the Office of the Prosecutor General said that the inspection of 63 prosecuting offices was drawing to its end.
The Office of the Prosecutor General has already filed 500 criminal cases, including the ones on severe crimes, theft, rape and robbery. Thirty cases have been filed on article 105 of the Russian Penal Code - homicide.
The inspection has not been completed yet, although the Office of the Prosecutor General has already filed four power abuse cases against law-enforcement officials, who deliberately concealed the crimes from registration and documentation.
In addition, the inspection revealed numerous occurrences, when investigators of prosecuting and law-enforcement agencies illegally suspended and closed criminal files. Adequate decrees have been canceled, investigation has been resumed.
