Boris Berezovsky says he may run in Duma elections

Boris Berezovsky will only make his decision whether or not to run in the Duma elections in October. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, he made this announcement from London during a virtual press conference with journalists at the House of Culture in Narva, Estonia, on August 26. The Russian oligarch stressed that he would not run for parliament if he sees that 'the new Duma will be the same Kremlin puppet as the present one.'

Mr Berezovsky did not say who he would like to see as the next Russian president.

When asked about foreign policy he said 'Estonia must definitely join the EU and NATO as only this will guarantee the country genuine independence.'

The virtual press conference was organised by a group of Russian political activists now permanently resident in Estonia. They want Mr Berezovsky to run as a State Duma candidate for the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad Region. There are 443 thousand eligible voters living in this district, 41 thousand of which are Russians now permanently resident in Estonia.

In response to the unlawful December 1 arrest and detention of Chinese tech giant Huawei's chief financial officer Sabrina Meng Wanzhou by Canadian authorities in Vancouver at the behest of the Trump regime, facing possible unacceptable extradition to the US, Beijing warned its high-tech personnel last month against traveling to America unless it's essential.
