2.017 million cubic metres of housing are planned to be built in Moscow in the latter half of this year. The figure is included in the draft resolution of the Moscow government, that was discussed at a session of the capital's government on Tuesday.
Under this resolution, the figure includes more than 265,000 cubic metres of free housing to be allocated to the municipal authorities and people on the waiting list. Another 582 cubic metres of housing are earmarked for those who have to be resettled from obsolete houses built in the 1950-60s. A programme has been underway in Moscow for a few years under which dilapidated houses are being replaced by new ones. Part of the new housing is being sold at market prices and the money thus is used for funding this programme.
