The UNO announced on Tuesday that on Saturday, the Sudanese government and representatives of the rebel movement (Sudanese people’s Liberation Movement/Army, SPLM/A)) reached agreement on allowing UN personnel to work in the worst-affected regions of this war-torn country.

UN spokesperson Fred Eckhard announced in New York on Tuesday that there will be an immunisation programme for children against poliomyelitis, while the World Food Programme distributes food aid to 585,000 people, in addition to the 3 million already receiving assistance.
