The construction of the monolithic foundation of "Nizhny Novgorod" stadium was finished a month before schedule. The stadium is being built ahead of schedule.

The city of Nizhny Novgorod is to host six matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, including the quarterfinals. The constructions of the second floor of the stadium is underway; a half of 800 columns are ready on the fist floor.

Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Valery Shantsev said that the construction of the first floor was to be finished 1.5 months ahead of schedule as well. All columns of the first floor will be ready on January 15 before builders proceed to mounting beams, floors and wall panels.

The construction of the stadium and other objects of sport and tourist infrastructure for the World Cup 2018 will help increase the tourist flow in the region. The football tournament will earn international reputation for the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

"I am glad that FIFA accepted our proposal to name the stadium "Nizhny Novgorod", because now our city will become famous around the world. This is very important because it will make our city more recognizable and increase the flow of tourists to the region," Valery Shantsev said.

By 2020, the Nizhny Novgorod authorities plan to increase the tourist flow up to three million people a year.
