Russia is on the top ten list of most corrupted countries

A public opinion poll exposed the results of the research, performed among the urban and rural population of the country. As it turned out, over a half of the Russian people do not think that the Russian powers-that-be can effectively fight with corruption.

Fifty-nine percent of the respondents said that Russia was on the top ten list of the most corrupted countries of the world. Only 5% of Russians said that their country was not that corrupted. Fourteen percent of the respondents said that Russia was somewhere between the 10th and 50th position.

Unfortunately, the majority of the state officials in Russia are subjected to corruption, which is what a half of the respondents think. Fifteen percent of them are sure that all the officials are corrupted, whereas 18% think like that about every other official. Seventeen percent of the citizens claimed that it is possible to win the corruption only by means of “the public punishment, executions, severing arms.” Fifteen percent stand for making laws tougher. Forty-three percent do not know any way to fight with the corruption in the country.

Thirty-four percent of the respondents see the impunity of the officials, their permissiveness and absence of control as the major sources of the corruption. The original source of the corruption is the authorities, “which do not do anything, do not fight against the corruption, but only make it grow.” Some people say that the corruption springs up from the sinful human nature, the low living standard, the poverty of the population, as well as the low moral level in Russia, where corruption is a historic, traditional phenomenon.
