The Russian State Duma has criticized NATO's enlargement and called the Alliance for taking into account Russia's concerns about this expansion. A corresponding statement was supported by 305 deputies at today's meeting of the lower house of Russian parliament.
The State Duma has addressed the Russian President asking him to hold a meeting of the Russian Security Council and consider the issue of deploying some additional defense facilities in Russian regions that border on NATO new members and the issue of strengthening the country's defense on the whole.
In their statement, deputies stressed that the process of NATO's expansion did not promote the strengthening of stability and security in Europe.
