Sergei Shilo, the mayor of Taganrog (south of Russia) was killed on Wednesday evening.
Nikolai Fedyanin, head of the administration of Taganrog, said that two shots had been fired into the mayor's back near the entrance to his house. Sergei Shilo was brought to hospital where he died from the inflicted wounds.
During the attack on the Taganrog mayor, his driver was also wounded and was taken to the city hospital in a grave state and underwent surgery there.
According to the latest reports, an identikit photograph of the assumed murderer has already been made up according to descriptions of eye-witnesses of the murder, and show a young man of 25 of middle built. Investigators believe that the attacker might have used a sports pistol, with 5.6-mm calibre cartridges found at the site of the murder.
Several versions of the murder are being worked on now, including one connected with the mayor's professional work.
