Flood does not threaten Lensk

On Sunday the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that the water level in the Lena River in the vicinity of the city of Lensk (the federal republic of Sakha-Yakutia, north of the Far East) amounted to 8.21 metres, the critical level being 13.5 metres. The press service pointed out that the height of new dams to protect Lensk exceeded the water critical level and, according to available information, the flood similar to last year's one did not threaten Lensk.
