Some 32.5m tons of oil were produced in Russia in April 2003, which was 11.5 percent higher than in April 2002 and 2.6 percent lower than in March 2003, the Russian State Statistics Committee reported. In the reported period 3.4bn cubic meters of associated gas were produced, a 25.8 percent gain compared to April 2002.
In the period from January to April 2003 oil production increased by 11.1 percent, associated gas production advanced by 24.9 percent, compared to the corresponding period of last year. In the first fourth months of 2003 average daily oil production surged in 23 out of 34 oil producing regions in Russia, in particular by 42.4 percent in the Tomsk region, 31 percent in the Chechen Republic, 11 percent in the Tyumen region.
