A new concert organ had begun to be mounted at the Moscow Music House. It will be about 14 meters high, 10 meters wide and 3.5 meters deep, with the total weight of 30 tons.
"This unique instrument, an offspring of the best experts in Germany, will be the largest in Russia," said Pavel Kravchun of the Moscow State University acoustics chair, an expert on organs. "It will have 84 registers as against 81 ones now available at the currently largest organ at the Tchaikovsky Hall," he added
In the opinion of Mr. Kravchun, the new organ will be able to reproduce the music of all epochs.
The history of the organ dates back to more than 2,000 years ago. In the spring of 2005, the Moscow Music House plans to stage the first organ festival.
