Sochi's 2014 Olympic organizing committee needs a chief executive, who will be chosen later this month at a meeting involving Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, the chief of the bid committee, said Monday that the Sept. 20 Presidential Council meeting headed by Putin would also involve key ministers, investors, athletes and security personnel.
Chernyshenko is considered one of the front-runners for the position, along with Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov.
International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge was also scheduled to meet with Putin in Russia in late September, Chernyshenko said.
He said the drafting of an Olympic law was also under way, with hopes it could be passed by the Russian parliament by Nov. 17
In London for an Olympic sponsor announcement by Panasonic, Chernyshenko also plans to meet with London 2012 organizers during his visit to Britain.
Sochi won the right to stage the Winter Games in 2014 in Guatemala on July 5. It must form an organizing committee by Dec. 4.
