The AvtoVAZ car giant decided to increase the production of one of its most popular car models - VAZ-2110 - due to the growing demand for this model and the necessity of attracting profits for investing in new projects, the AvtoVAZ press center reported to RBC.
The work schedule of the major assembly line of the plant will be changed beginning September 1, 2002. This step was coordinated with the trade union of the plant. The first shift will last eight hours, the second one - nine hours. The increase in the working day of the second shift by one hour will enable the plant to produce by 50 cars more. It is planned to assemble 4,500 cars in excess of the plan by the end of 2002. In 2003, it is planned to produce 14,500 'extra' cars of the 'tenth' model group. AvtoVAZ experts forecast that this will bring considerable additional profits to the plant.
According to AvtoVAZ Vice President for Production Mikhail Dybenko, the attracted resources will be allocated for producing Kalina cars and streamlining the 'tenth' model group.
