From 2 to 10 November the Gorky motor car "(GAZ") works suspends production of passenger cars.
According to the information provided in the press service of the leader of the Russian motor car construction industry in Nizhny Novgorod (that historic name was returned to the city in the post-Soviet times), by the order of the general director of the enterprise, 2,4,5,6, November were declared as days-off at the passenger cars workshop, and 7,8,9,10 November -as holidays. These days will be paid for in accordance with the Russian Labor code.
The press service explained these decisions so that in order to reduce production costs, to increase level of quality and improve consumer characteristics of "Gaz" cars it was necessary to carry out electrolytic cathode precipitation at passenger cars' and trucks' production lines. From 1 till 10 November these operations will be performed at the car production lines, and during Christmas holidays, from 29 December till 9 January - at the trucks' production lines.
Earlier 11, 18, 19 and 25 October were declared days-off. At that time the decision, according to the official information, was explained by market situation changes, drop of demand for passenger cars and rational use of workforce.
